The Carmichael Centre provides a range of training supports that can be customised to suit a particular community and voluntary group's requirements. This aspect of our work reflects the ongoing governance training and development that boards and staff require, as they adapt to changes in their environment over time.

Customised Training Service

If a community or voluntary group wishes to organise a specific type of training for several members of their organisation, then the customised training option is the most cost effective route to take. Training is delivered on-site, in the organisation's office or at a location of their choosing within Ireland. Training can also be arranged on a full-day, half-day or seminar basis and may focus on one or several topics. Courses can be customised to include content related to board roles and responsibilities, board development and team building, strategic planning, marketing and brand communications, employment law, financial management and operational planning.

The Stronger Leaders Programme for the Community and Voluntary Sector is an example of customised training delivered by Carmichael Centre in partnership with and on behalf of the Wheel.

Consultancy Service

We also undertake specific contracts for organisations who require additional short-term expertise in the areas of staff recruitment, staff deployment, organisational development, shared resources management, operational management, risk assessment and business planning.

The Charities Act and Quality Assurance Planning

Charity trustees and managers need to consider how to strengthen their organisations in response to the new regulations. The Carmichael Centre itself has embarked on a self-assessment quality assurance programme through the implementation of PQASSO ©, which covers 12 quality areas that are important to all voluntary and community organisations. Our Training and Development Programme covers key elements of these quality areas including "Governance" , "Planning" and "Managing Money". In addition, we provide one-to-one advice to boards or managers who wish to enhance quality management systems within their organisations.
