Trainer: Derek McKay, BBS, Chartered MCIPD, is an experienced HR and Employment Law practitioner who has worked extensively in the public, private and voluntary sectors. Prior to setting up Adare Human Resource Management in 2003, Derek worked in HR in a number of multinational organisations.

 Content:

The area of Redundancy has seen significant growth in recent years, which brings about the need for increased awareness of the areas that need to be explored prior to making redundancies.

Areas discussed will include:

• Managing Change including terms and conditions of employment


• Implementing Redundancies including selection criteria, process, timeframes and communication

We will also look at all the considerations that need to be taken into account as well as the implications of an ineffective process.

This will be an interactive session with Questions and Answers throughout and relevant employment law case examples provided.

After this course participants will be able to effectively manage Redundancies within the parameters of Employment Law and in particular the:

* Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967 - 2007

-          * Terms of Employment (Information) Acts, 1994 and 2001

-          * Minimum Notice and Terms of Employments Acts, 1973 to 2001

-          * Employment Equality Acts, 1998 - 2008

-          * Unfair Dismissals Acts, 1977 - 2007
