Teresa Nyland

Short biography

Teresa is originally from Mayo and is now living in Dublin. She has a Masters in Women's Studies from Trinity and a PhD in Community Development from UCD. Teresa has been employed as a Community Development Worker by the HSE since 1995. She was a founder member of Contact Dublin 15 a community initiative relating to the issue of domestic violence and was actively involved in the community development working group of the Area Based Partnership. At present she is located in Ballygall Health Centre Finglas and she is involved in the Finglas / Cabra Partnership, the Teen Parents Support Programme, the Finglas Homeless Network and in the Primary Care Initiative to mention a few. She also provides support and supervision to members of the team. She works four days for the HSE and on her 'day off' she teaches Community Development to Social Work students in Trinity.
